Weam Namou is an award-winning filmmaker, author, journalist, and the executive director of Unique Voices in Films (UVIF), a nonprofit organization supporting independent filmmakers.
Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Weam’s family was silenced under the oppressive regime of Saddam Hussein and the Ba’ath Political Party, leading them to relocate to Michigan, USA. This experience of repression and displacement has profoundly influenced her storytelling, driving her to amplify marginalized voices and create culturally rich narratives that inspire social change.
Weam has published over 15 books and produced award-winning films that bridge cultures and promote global understanding. She also attended The Lynn Andrews Shaman Mystery School, integrating ancient spiritual wisdom into her storytelling approach. Through Unique Voices in Films, Weam mentors emerging filmmakers, helping them share their unique stories with the world.
